We are happy to announce that many students from our Soochow University, 2013 batch have turned up successful in passing the FMGE exam. This exam was conducted on 29th June 2018 in INDIA. Total number of students appeared in this examination were 9274. The minimum passing marks in FMGE 2018 was 150 marks out of 300 marks.
Ten students of our university have passed the exam by scoring more than 150 marks. Three among them have scored more than 200. MOHAMED SAMSUDEEN MOHAMED SALIH have scored 227, which is estimated to be the third highest score overall. CHINNIAH MARISAMY BAVITHIRAN has scored 212 and PATEL ANUJ SURESHBHAI scored 202. The highest score of this examination was reported to be 231.
What is FMGE?
Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE), is a screening examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in India. The test is one of the mandatory requirements for an Indian citizen who has a medical degree from a college outside India to practice medicine in the country. The screening test was introduced in 2002 as a qualifying examination for Indian students obtaining their medical degrees from countries other than India, such as Russia, Eastern European countries, China, Nepal, Philippines, and Caribbean countries. Indian doctors holding basic medical degrees from any country have to take the MCI screening test. The examination is held twice in a year in June and December. The screening test is based on computer and conducted all over the country across various test centres.
How difficult is the FMGE?
In June 2014 the passing rate of FMGE was just 4%. Remaining 96% have failed in their attempt. In the successive years the passing rate increased gradually to 15%. The percentage of students passed in the June 2018 FMGE was 26%. This was the highest passing rate of FMGE seen in the past several years. Nonetheless 75% of them have failed to achieve 150 marks.
